Agilent 990 Micro GC — four-screen interface

The user interface I designed for the Agilent Technologies 990 Micro gas chromatography system during my internship there was announced and hit the market in October 2019.

Micro GC instruments are compact, field-deployable analysers used across industries — from natural gas monitoring to environmental testing. The challenge was to make a technically dense workflow legible and efficient for operators in demanding real-world conditions: limited screen space, time pressure, and users who are chemists first and software users second.

The design process combined user research with technical constraint — close collaboration with the engineering team to understand what the instrument could show, and with application specialists to understand what analysts actually needed to see. The result is an interface that ships with the physical instrument, visible in labs and field sites across the world.
